OUR STORY

About LocaManna
LocaManna is a resortwear brand born from EDYA1929,
a Japanese-Filipino sustainable fashion label founded by Yumi Christina Sakamoto.
Through upcycling vintage kimonos and celebrating multicultural artistry,
LocaManna expresses freedom, blessings, and the adventurous spirit of life,
with a focus on menswear while also offering unisex and select women’s pieces.
The Inspiration Behind LocaManna
The name LocaManna combines “Loca” — Spanish for “crazy” (or “loka” in Tagalog),
and “Manna” — a biblical term meaning blessing, which also translates to inheritance in Tagalog.
It reflects the brand’s philosophy of “wild yet blessed adventures” — unpredictable, soulful, and transformative.
Building on the core ethos of EDYA1929 — “cultural regeneration” —
LocaManna creates resortwear for those who love travel and freedom,
with a focus on menswear that can also be worn unisex, alongside select women’s pieces.
Fashion made Sustainable
More than just a fashion brand, LocaManna is committed to sustainability. To minimize waste, the brand only produces a limited number of products with a limited amount of materials that are sustainable to both the environment and people.
Their primary materials include preloved kimonos brought from coast to coast, deadstock materials discovered along the journey, and proudly natural Filipino materials. The brand’s identity is also shaped by the people behind it, as they work closely with manufacturers and family-run businesses to ensure each garment meets the highest standards of quality and exceeds the expectations of its customers. As a result, the brand holds a distinct exclusivity defined by its mindful approach to crafting with purpose.
Where Tradition Meets Tropical Vibes
LocaManna is ushering in a new era that bridges the past and present across borders. Each piece captures the warmth of a tropical paradise stitched from a rich tapestry of tradition and modern artistry, blending effortlessly with the breathtaking sights you behold.
